Frequently Asked Questions
After School Enrichment with iPianoLab

How often does the class meet, and for how long?
The class meets once weekly for one hour.
How many lessons am I signing up for?
Each level includes six lessons. There are five 6 week levels, for a total of 30 weeks. Each level teaches new skills and concepts, but you are signing up for one 6 week level.
Do we bring a keyboard to school?
No. We will have a keyboard and pair of headphones for each child to use in class.
Do we have to buy books and music?
No. We provide all the books, music, and learning materials.
Do we need to have a keyboard at home?
It's a very good idea to have a keyboard instrument (piano, organ, electric keyboard) at home to practice on. If you don't have one, the good news is you can easily find a suitable keyboard for under $100. Any 61 key keyboard from Yamaha or Casio will be suitable. Check out our First Time Keyboard Buyer's Guide for more information!
Will my child learn to read music?
Yes! However, we at iPianoLab believe a child needs to play something they LIKE, quickly, or their interest will wane and they will give up. In fact, studies show that close to 90% of beginning students quit the instrument within 24 months.

So, for the first level, we teach how to play SONGS, as well as the letter names of the keys and basic counting and rhythms. In level 2, we teach students how to read notes.
Are there recitals?
Yes! The last half hour of the 6th session of each level will be a recital / open house so parents can see the student's progress.
When we join, what online features are there?
Students enrolled in an iPianoLab after school course get FREE access to the entire online site, which includes a sheet music library with video tutorials of the songs. Students will also get points for learning songs, completing tasks, attending classes, etc, and the students with the most points at the end of the year will win great prizes!
